Characteristics

Suffrutex, up to 1 m high; annual, branching from woody rootstock; pubescence sericeous to tawny-hairy. Leaves trifoliolate. Leaflets obovate, apex rounded, apiculate. Stipules paired. Inflorescences terminal racemes; bracts lanceolate to elliptic. Flowers 2-30, evenly spaced, deep to pale violet. Calyx turbinate, densely sericeous; lobes narrowly triangular, lateral sinuses > 2 mm deep. Flowering time Nov.-Apr. Pod obliquely ovoid, upwardly apiculate, sericeous, 1-3-seeded.
