Spikelets linear, 6–7 mm. long, yellowish brown; lower glume narrowly ovate, 1/2 as long as the spikelet, sparsely setose from brown tubercles, narrowly obtuse to subacute; upper glume lanceolate, as long as the spikelet, usually setose; lower lemma lanceolate, as long as the spikelet, glabrous, accompanied by a palea but barren; upper lemma 3–4 mm. long, loosely hirsute with spreading silky hairs 1–2 mm. long; awn not deciduous, with short (1.5–3 mm.) column and falcate limb 9–16 mm. long; callus oblong, 0.2 mm. long, truncate; stamens 2.
