Characteristics

Shrub to 6 m high. Branches divaricate. Branchlets short, pubescent. Leaves spirally arranged, usually densely crowded; lamina lanceolate to rectangular, 3–11 mm long, 1.5–4 mm wide, attenuate at base, obtuse, minutely mucronate at apex, concolorous, densely silvery pubescent; petiole absent or to 1.5 mm long, pubescent. Inflorescence of paired, rarely single flowers; peduncles 0.2–1.2 cm long, pubescent; bracts broadly ovate, 3–4 mm long, deciduous. Flowers sessile. Calyx 4–6 mm long, sericeous; bracteoles 3–4 mm long, pubescent. Petals ovate, c. 4 mm long, pubescent. Staminal filaments c. 4 mm long. Disc pubescent. Style pubescent near base. Fruit: calyx lobes 1–1.5 cm long; bracteoles broadly elliptic to orbicular, 1.2–1.5 cm long, 1–1.5 cm wide, thinly appressed pubescent, glabrescent, straw yellow.
