Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets 2.5–9 × 1–2.5 cm, elliptic to oblong-elliptic, subacute to rounded at the apex, apiculate, cuneate to rounded at the base, upper surface glabrous apart from appressed hairs on the midvein and margins, lower surface densely silvery sericeous velvety; petiole 6–8 mm long; rhachis 3–4 mm long; petiolules 2–3 mm long; stipules 8–10 mm long, lanceolate, densely sericeous, striate; stipels 2–3 mm long, filiform.
Standard yellow-green, 14–20 × 8–19 mm, obovate, emarginate at the apex, with linear appendages 4–5 mm long; wings 12–18 × 3–4 mm; keel petals 10–15 × 4–5 mm, fused.
Calyx densely silvery sericeous; tube 3 mm long; lobes 3–12 mm long, lanceolate or triangular, the upper two fused for almost all their length.
Flowers axillary in 5–7-flowered fascicles; pedicels 2–4 mm long; bracts and bracteoles 3–13 mm long, lanceolate, densely silvery sericeous.
Stems annual, several, sparsely covered with appressed silvery or ferruginous hairs on lower parts, densely covered on upper parts.
Pod 3.8–5 cm × 6–12 mm, compressed, glabrous to densely hairy (at least when young), 6–8-seeded.
Erect herb to 1.75 m tall, from a perennial woody rootstock.
Ovary 9–13 mm long, densely sericeous, 6–8-ovuled.
Seeds reddish-brown, 5–7 × 3–5 × 2 mm.
