Erect perennial herb, 7–50 cm. tall, from a stout woody rootstock.. Stems several, covered with ± adpressed white hairs.. Leaflets 3, mostly paler beneath, the laterals slightly oblique, elliptic or elliptic-oblong, 1·3–8·5 cm. long, 0·5–2·8 cm. wide, rounded to subacute and mucronulate at the apex, rounded at the base, pubescent above, densely greyish-silvery adpressed pilose beneath; petiole 0·5–7 cm. long; rhachis 1–3 mm. long; petiolules 1–3 mm. long; stipules conspicuous, persistent, oblong or ovate-lanceolate, 6–12 mm. long, 2·5–4 mm. wide, prominently nerved.. Flowers 1–4 in axillary fascicles; peduncle obsolete; pedicels 2–4 mm. long; bracts elliptic, 1·5–2 mm. long; bracteoles ovate to linear-oblong, 2–3 mm. long..
