Scrambling shrub or small tree up to 8 m. tall with dark brown bark, glabrous but for the margin of the sepals.. Branchlets furrowed.. Leaves petiolate, simple; blade oblanceolate, oblanceolate-elliptic or elliptic, 5–12 cm. long, 2–5 cm. wide, very acutely to sometimes rather obtusely acuminate, basally cuneate, rather leathery, dark green to brownish, with the midrib and primary nerves prominent beneath; petiole 3–7 mm. long.. Inflorescence a rather congested axillary fascicle-like raceme towards the ends of the branches or flowers solitary in the leaf-axils; pedicels slender, 2–3.5 cm. long.. Sepals rather narrowly oblong, ±10 mm. long, acute, marginally tomentellous, markedly reflexed at anthesis; receptacle very short, ± 1 mm. long; disk with a free entire rim, ± 0.5 mm. long.. Petals lanceolate to oblong, 6–7 mm. long, 2 mm. wide, rounded at the apex, white, mauve or pink.. Stamens ± 50(–100); filaments ± 23 mm. long.. Ovary ovoid-ellipsoid.. Fruits similarly ovoid-ellipsoid, up to 2.5 cm. long, 1.2 cm. across, apically pointed, rugose and shiny.
