Characteristics

Leaves simple; lamina 6–10 x 1.5–2.5 cm., narrowly elliptic, obtuse or subacute at the apex, mucronate, base narrowly cuneate, margin subcartilaginous, nerves in 4–6 pairs, subprominent on both sides; petiole up to 1 cm. long.

Ovary on a subterete or slightly sulcate gynophore c. 2.2 cm. long, oblong-ovoid, slightly rugose or subverrucose; ovules c. 8 on 2 placentas; stigma sessile, capitate.
Receptacle 4.5 mm. long, 3 mm. in diam. at the mouth, cylindric, widened at the mouth, margin within with 4 subquadrate, irregularly dentate lobes 1.5–2 mm. long.
Sepals c. 2 x 0.6 cm., narrowly oblong-elliptic, apex acute, glabrous outside, sparsely pubescent inside, margins very shortly lanate.
Glaucous shrub up to 1.3 m. tall, glabrous except for the sepals; branches glaucous-green, striate and erect.
Stamens c. 30; filaments c. 2.5 cm. long; anthers c. 3 x 1.25 mm., oblong-elliptic.
Seeds several, c. 5 mm. in diam., irregularly ovoid; testa pale brown, rugose.
Flowers single in the axils of the upper leaves; pedicels up to 3 cm. long.
Petals whitish, c. 9 x 3.5 mm., narrowly elliptic, apex subacute.
Fruit c. 2.5 x 2 cm., ovoid or ellipsoid, coarsely verrucose.
Androgynophore exserted from the receptacle, 7–8 mm. long.
