Succulent shrub with erect, later prostrate to decumbent branches, internodes spongy. Leaves almost terete, 50-90 mm long, 8-10 mm thick, glaucous due to a thick covering of wax. Flowers in erect cymes, sepals 5, petals magenta outside, saffron-coloured inside. Fruit stalks ± 100 mm long, base funnel-shaped, 9-or 10-locular.
