Characteristics

Perennial, dwarf shrublet, up to 0.1 m high, forming dense cushions with thickened fleshy roots. Leaves erect, triangular-oblong, punctate, up to 45 mm long, recurved, apex acute. Flowers solitary, up to 35 mm in diam.; petals pink with a darker central stripe; pedicels 15 mm long. Flowering time July, Aug. (midwinter). Capsules 5-locular, covering membranes, closing bodies large, expanding keels divergent.
