Characteristics

Leaf-lamina 7–10 × 3–5 cm., ovate to oblong-lanceolate, acuminate at the apex, rounded to slightly cordate at the base; upper surface finely reticulate, shining, glabrous; lower surface green, shining, glabrescent with only a very few small simple hairs scattered on the nerves; midrib slightly depressed above and prominent beneath; lateral nerves in 8–10 pairs, anastomosing well before reaching the margin of the leaf; reticulation prominent and very conspicuous; petiole under 1 cm. long.

Fruit 0·5 cm. in diam., ovoid-conical, subsericeous; wings 2–3 × 0·3–0·6 cm., orange to brownish, narrowly oblong, with sparse short subappressed hairs outside and inside.
Tree 15–28 m. tall, with buttresses at the base of the trunk; branchlets sparsely puberulous, soon becoming glabrous.
Flowers in large terminal panicles; pedicels 2–4 mm. long.
Sepals 2 mm. long, greyish-tomentellous.
