Characteristics

Woody vine; latex clear to green. Roots fibrous. Indumentum ginger-orange. Leaves with petiole 10–35 mm long; lamina lanceolate-ovate to elliptic-ovate, to 19 cm long, to 11 cm wide, cordate at base, acuminate, with scattered to dense trichomes below, not triveined at base; venation prominent below; colleters 8–13. Inflorescences racemiform. Flowers 7–22 mm long, 15–25 mm diam.; pedicels 5–13 mm long. Corolla rotate, red, red-purple or pale pink-cream; tube c. 4 mm long, 8–10 mm diam.; lobes lanceolate, 8–14 mm long, 2–7 mm wide, internally glabrous or with dense trichomes. Corolline corona absent. Staminal corona of 5 oblong-rectangular lobes shorter than or as long as staminal column, entire, adnate at base; lobes 3–4 mm long, 1.5–2.5 mm wide. Anther appendages ovate to obtuse. Style-head depressed-globose to conical-elongate. Pollinia globose-ovoid, 0.5–0.55 mm long. Follicles fusiform-ovoid, c. 10 cm long.
