Inflorescence branches, branchlets and pedicels usually glabrous except at apex of pedicels and at nodes, usually long, fine and very wavy, often twisted around. Spikelet 2.2-4.0(-5.0) x 2-3 mm, slightly laterally compressed, usually densely hairy; internode between glumes 0.1-0.5(-0.6) mm long; lower glume (0.3-)0.6-1.3(-1.5) mm long; upper glume and lower lemma gibbous, rarely tapering into an elongated beak; upper glume 5-nerved; lower palea keels ciliate.
