Characteristics

Very large, decumbent to erect, succulent, biennial herb, up to 1.5 m tall, stems usually distinctly 4-angled and winged. Leaves flat, ovate, basal ones largest, up to 400 x 250 mm, margins undulate, epidermal bladder-cells small. Flowers 40-60 mm diam., pink or pale pink, petals, staminodes and stamens very numerous. Fruit 5-locular.
