Characteristics

Small, succulent shrublet, up to 50 mm tall, in clusters, roots not tuberous, stems weakly lignified, becoming somewhat corky, usually short. Leaves deciduous, opposite and 4-ranked, subcylindrical, narrowly ovate, with large epidermal bladder-cells. Flowers up to 20 mm diam., yellow, stamens and stigmas not concealed. Fruit 5-locular.
