Erect, large, succulent shrub, up to 1 m tall, occasionally more, 1-1.5 m diam., densely and regularly branched, internodes inconspicuous, smooth, stems becoming woody. Leaves subcylindrical with upper surface somewhat fl attened, shortly connate to opposite ones or free, soon dropping (as the stem becomes woody), without a mucro. Flowers in dichasia, 15 mm diam., white, filamentous staminodes gathered into a cone. Fruit 5-locular.
