Characteristics

Dense ramosum, 30-90 cm altum, ramis ramulisque opposite evolutis; rami visi ad 25 cm longi, 5 mm diam., cuticula brunnea; ramuli floriferi saepe 5-7 cm longi, 1-5 flores prope apicem ferentes, internodiis 1-5 mm longis; folia patentia vel patenti-erecta vel adscendentia, obtusa luteo-viridia, 6-9 mm longa, 1-1.5 mm diam.; pedunculi 2-6 mm longi; receptaculum obconicum, apice 4 mm diam.; sepala 5, parum inaequilonga, 3-4 mm longa, 2 late membranaceo-marginata; petala acuta alba, 5 mm longa; stamina alba, antheris 1.5 mm longis; ovarium per 1.5 mm elevatum; stigmata 4 mm longa; capsula expansa 7 mm diam.

Erect, large, succulent shrub, up to 1 m tall, occasionally more, 1-1.5 m diam., densely and regularly branched, internodes inconspicuous, smooth, stems becoming woody. Leaves subcylindrical with upper surface somewhat fl attened, shortly connate to opposite ones or free, soon dropping (as the stem becomes woody), without a mucro. Flowers in dichasia, 15 mm diam., white, filamentous staminodes gathered into a cone. Fruit 5-locular.
