Erect, succulent shrub, up to 300 mm tall, roots not tuberous, stems at first weakly, then later more lignified, with a thick cork layer. Leaves persistent, opposite and 4-ranked, subcylindrical, narrowly ovate, with small, flattened, epidermal bladder-cells. Flowers 20-30 mm diam., very pale pink or salmon, stamens and stigmas not concealed. Fruit 4(5)-locular.
