Characteristics

Erect, succulent shrub, up to 500(-800) mm tall, internodes indistinctly articulate, epidermal bladder-cells flattened or with pointed tips in the inflorescence, glaucous. Leaves subcylindrical with upper surface somewhat flattened, shortly fused to opposite ones, with a short apical mucro. Flowers in dichasia, 10-15 mm diam., white or pink, filamentous staminodes gathered into a cone. Fruit 5-locular.
