Characteristics

Leaves alternate or crowded on short shoots which later grow out, paripinnate; leaflets opposite, with short twisted petiolules and with a few glands beneath near the base; stipules intrapetiolar, early caducous.

Pod asymmetrically narrowly obovate, at least 6 cm wide at maturity, ridged along each side of the upper suture, elastically dehiscent, apex long-acuminate.
Stamens 8–9(10), all equal in length; anthers 0.4–0.5 times the length of the filament, narrowly oblong-elliptic.
Inflorescence racemose, leaf-opposed on short shoots, rather few-flowered.
Ovary 2-ovulate, the stipe partially fused to the walls of the hypanthium.
Hypanthium shallowly cupular, much shorter than the sepals.
Petals 4–5, equalling or slightly longer than the stamens.
Sepals 4, reflexed at anthesis.
