Characteristics

Plants c. 5 cm high, c. 30 cm long. Culm internodes c. 1 mm long. Leaves: sheath 3–4 mm long, 3–5-nerved, bearded at mouth with tubercle-based hairs 1–1.5 mm long, often scaberulous on margins; ligule pubescent and minute or glabrous; blade 6.5–9.5 mm long, c. 0.3 mm wide, acute to subobtuse, herbaceous to coriaceous, stiff, 3-nerved, glabrous, partly scaberulous. Panicles 10–13 mm long and wide, glandular. Glumes longer than florets, ovate or oblong, c. 1 mm long, obtuse or truncate, mucronulate, 1-nerved. Lemma oblong, 0.3–0.5 mm long, obtuse or truncate, membranous, strongly 3-nerved. Palea nerveless. Caryopsis ellipsoid to obovoid, 0.2–0.5 mm long, obtuse to subacute, smooth, shiny.
