Characteristics

Scandent shrub 1.5–6 m high; stems striate, pubescent on the younger parts but rapidly glabrescent.. Leaves subsessile or with a petiole to 3(–5) mm long; blade lanceolate to slightly obovate, 3–9 cm long, 0.5–3.5 cm wide, obtuse to cuneate at the base, margins minutely ciliate and often slightly revolute, (slightly) acuminate at the apex, glabrous but for the margins and the midrib.. Capitula in dense leafy inflorescences, individual cymes subglobose, axillary or terminal, with up to 10 capitula, and up to 15 cymes forming the compound inflorescence; capitula 5–8 mm long; stalks of individual capitula 3–10 mm long, densely pubescent, with bracteoles 1.5–2 mm long; phyllaries 3-seriate, membranous, ovate but the innermost almost linear, 2–5.5 mm long, 0.5–1.5 mm wide, with scarious and ciliate to laciniate margins, acute or obtuse.. Ray florets white or cream, tube 2.5–3.5 mm long, widest at the base, ray 2.5–3.5 mm long, 0.3–0.8 mm wide, style 3–4 mm long; tube florets greenish white or pale yellow, tube 2.5–3.5 mm long, lobes 0.5–0.7 mm long; anthers 1.1–1.5 mm long, with a narrowly triangular appendage; style 3.5–5.5 mm long.. Achenes 1–1.5 mm long, angled, pubescent; pappus white or reddish-brown, setae 4.5–6 mm long.
