Characteristics

Scandent shrub 2–6 m long, sometimes apparently not scandent; branches terete, stout, striate to sulcate, pubescent and glandular.. Leaves: petiole 0.8–2 cm long and pubescent, blade ovate to lanceolate, 5–14 cm long, 2–7.5 cm wide, rounded to cuneate at the base, margins serrate, apex acuminate, membranous, scabridulous above, pubescent and glandular beneath, rarely subglabrous (see Note).. Capitula 4–6 mm long, densely crowded in terminal many-headed leafy corymbs, individual cymes subglobose, axillary or terminal, with 6–20 capitula per cyme and up to 50 cymes per inflorescence; stalks of individual capitula 0.5–5 mm long; phyllaries 3–4-seriate, the outer elliptic, the inner linear and scarious, 1.3–4 mm long, 0.3–0.8 mm wide, obtuse, cilate, puberulous; receptacle slightly fimbriate.. Ray florets white or cream, tube 1.5–2.2 mm long, rays linear or narrowly obovate, 1.5–3 mm long, 0.4–0.7 mm wide, notched at the apex, style 2.3–3.5 mm long; disc florets yellow, tube 1.7–4 mm long and glandular at the mouth, 5-lobed, lobes 0.6–1.2 mm long and glandular beneath; anthers 1.3–2 mm long with a triangular or ovate appendage; style 3.3–3.8 mm long, style-tips ovate-lanceolate, papillose.. Achenes narrowly obovoid, 1.2–1.4 mm long, 4-angled, pubescent; pappus pale tawny, of barbellate setae 3.3–4 mm long.
