Characteristics

Annual herb, spreading to erect, stout, rigid, rarely branched, to 20 cm tall, glabrous. Basal leaves obovate, to 2 cm long, petiolate, usually entire; cauline leaves obovate, to 1.5 cm long, few, remotely dentate to entire; upper leaves sessile. Inflorescence an elongating raceme. Sepals 1–2 mm long, cucullate. Petals absent. Nectariferous glands 2, surrounding lateral stamens and absent between median stamens. Stigma depressed-capitate, to sessile or almost so. Silicula 4–5.5 mm long, round to cordate, terete or slightly compressed (except wings); notch deep; valves winged for full length; pedicels 2–3.5 mm long, erect to spreading. Seeds 0.8–1.0 mm long, broadly ellipsoidal.
