Characteristics

Leaves coriaceous, elliptic-oblong, 7-12 by 2.5-6 cm; base obtuse; apex acuminate; nerves c. 5 pairs; petiole very short. Thyrses up to 2.5 cm long; peduncle c. 1 cm. Bracteoles ovate, c. 2 mm long. Calyx lobes suborbicular, c. 3 by 2½ mm, sometimes irregularly split, smooth inside, slightly wrinkled outside, very short fringed. Petals oblong, obtuse, 2 by 1 mm, the lower part adnate to the disk. Stamens c. 2 mm long; anthers ovoid c. 2/3 mm long, short-apiculate; filaments 1.5 mm, subulate, the lower 2/3 united, dorso-fixed, the connective distinct on the dorsal side. Pistil c. 2.5 mm long; ovary ± globose, c. 2 mm ø, narrowed to the apex; style very short; stigma obscurely 4-6 lobed. Fruits (immature) oblong.
