Characteristics

Annual herb, erect, to 30 cm high, pilose, with leaves sparsely so. Stem scapiform. Leaves lanceolate-attenuate, 8–20 mm long, 1.5–4 mm wide. Flowers terminal and axillary, in compact, head-like umbellate clusters, rarely solitary; pedicels to 4 mm long. Calyx campanulate, hirsute with long white hairs; tube c. 2 mm long; lobes slightly thickened or foliaceous, c. 2 mm long. Corolla white; tube 4–5 mm long; lobes c. 1 mm long. Stamen filaments partly adnate to tube, free part 1.6–1.7 mm long; anthers obtuse; dehiscence extrorse. Capsule globular, c. 3 mm long; fruiting style 2.5–3 mm long.
