Characteristics

Annual herb, erect, to 20 cm high, white-hispid, including calyx, with leaves glabrous above. Stem foliose throughout. Leaves lanceolate-attenuate, 6–13 mm long, 1–2 mm wide. Flowers in ±compact terminal and axillary umbellate clusters; pedicels to 6 mm long. Calyx campanulate, ±quadrate; tube c. 2 mm long; lobes attenuate, c. 2 mm long. Corolla white, with throat pale yellow or greenish and lobes orange below; tube 6–8.5 mm long; lobes 1–1.5 mm long. Stamen filaments partly adnate to tube, free part 2–4 mm long; anthers obtuse; dehiscence extrorse. Capsule depressed-globular, c. 2 mm long; horns connate along their length, flattened in plane at 90° to septum; fruiting style 4–7 mm long. Seeds smooth with a longitudinal fold.
