Characteristics

Perennial rhizomatous or stoloniferous herb with annual aerial stems, procumbent or erect, to 47 cm high, glabrous or nearly so. Stem scapiform. Leaves with upper 2–5 pairs whorled, oblanceolate or rarely elliptic, 5–38 mm long, 1–7 mm wide. Flowers in terminal and axillary compound umbellate clusters; pedicels to 17 mm long. Calyx tube 2.2–2.5 mm long; lobes c. 1 mm long. Corolla white, with yellow throat; tube 8–11 mm long; lobes 3–5.5 mm long. Free part of stamens 2–2.4 mm long. Capsule ellipsoidal, c. 2.5 mm long; fruiting style 9–11 mm long.
