Characteristics

Annual herb, erect, to 28 cm high, pilose to lanuginose. Stem foliose throughout. Leaves narrowly lanceolate to linear, 5–20 mm long, 1.5–3 mm wide. Flowers solitary and in terminal and axillary compound umbellate clusters; pedicels to 20 mm long. Calyx narrowly cuneiform, pilose to lanuginose; tube 2–3 mm long; lobes foliaceous, narrowly triangular, 3–6.5 mm long. Corolla white; tube 7–9 mm long; lobes 2.5–3 mm long. Stamen filaments arising from 1–2 mm long decurrent wing; free part 3–4 mm long; anthers obtuse; dehiscence extrorse. Capsule obovoid, splitting along septum, 2.5–4 mm long; horns minutely papillose; fruiting style 4–6 mm long. Seeds smooth, shiny.
