Characteristics

Ephemeral herb, erect, to 12 cm high. Stem scapose, ±retrorsely squamulose near base, glabrescent to glabrous in upper parts. Leaves shortly petiolate, oblanceolate, oblong or lanceolate, 3–10 mm long, 1–3 mm wide, sparsely to densely cupular-squamulose above. Flowers in terminal and axillary simple and compound umbellate clusters; pedicels to 30 mm long. Calyx cylindrical, glabrous; tube 0.5–1 mm long; lobes 0.5–1 mm long, obtuse. Corolla white; tube 1.5–3 mm long; lobes 1–2.5 mm long. Stamens c. 0.5 mm long; anthers horseshoe-shaped, glabrous to white-ciliate; dehiscence latrorse. Capsule globular or ellipsoidal, 2–2.6 mm long; fruiting style c. 0.2 mm long.
