Characteristics

Perennial herb, prostrate or erect to 25 cm high, pilose or antrorsely squamulose, with leaves often glabrous. Stem foliose throughout. Leaves narrowly lanceolate, linear-oblong, elliptic or rarely oblanceolate, 3–9 mm long, 0.9–3 mm wide. Flowers solitary or in few-flowered terminal simple umbellate clusters; pedicels to 25 mm long. Calyx campanulate, 4-angled, hispidulous or glabrous; tube 1–2.8 mm long; lobes 1–1.6 mm long. Corolla white; tube 1.5–2.7 mm long; lobes 1.2–2 mm long. Stamens included or shortly exserted, 1–1.5 mm long; anthers almost sessile, with fleshy, recurved apiculum; dehiscence extrorse. Capsule globular or obovoid, 1.4–2.5 mm long; horns often bulbous below the ±sessile stigma.
