Characteristics

Ephemeral herb, erect, to 30 cm high. Stem scapose, glabrescent or hispidulous with retrorse squamae. Leaves lanceolate or elliptic, 1–4 mm long, 0.5–2 mm wide, glabrous or glabrescent. Flowers in terminal and axillary compound umbellate clusters; pedicels to 40 mm long. Calyx cylindrical, glabrous or nearly so; tube minutely 4-lobed at base, 0.5–1.1 mm long; lobes 0.5–1 mm long. Corolla white; tube 2–3 mm long; lobes 1.5–2 mm long. Stamen filaments partly adnate to tube, forming vertical ribs, free part c. 0.5 mm long; anthers horseshoe-shaped, c. 0.3 mm long, white-ciliate; dehiscence latrorse. Capsule globular to ellipsoidal, c. 2 mm long, often glaucous; fruiting style 0.5–0.9 mm long.
