Characteristics

Annual aquatic herb, prostrate, mat-forming, rooting at nodes, glabrous; floriferous branches axillary, erect. Stem foliose throughout. Leaves lanceolate-attenuate, 1–3 mm long, 0.5–0.8 mm wide. Flowers solitary, terminal or in upper axils; pedicels to 3 mm long. Calyx tube c. 0.5 mm long; lobes c. 0.6 mm long. Corolla white; tube c. 0.5 mm long; lobes c. 0.5 mm long. Stamens c. 0.6 mm long. Styles separate in flower. Capsule expanded laterally, c. 1.5 mm long; horns undeveloped; fruiting styles separate, c. 0.2 mm long. Seeds smooth, shiny.
