Characteristics

Culms 0.25–0.5 m high, with nodes geniculate. Leaf blades expanded, 160 mm long, 2–5 mm wide. Inflorescences open, with 8–25 spikelets, triangular, 7–20 cm long. Spikelets 10–14 mm long, with 3–8 florets. Glumes equalling or marginally exceeding florets; lower glume 10–14 mm long. Lemma: body 2–2.7 mm long, villous; lobes rounded, 3–8.4 mm long, with 4 nerves; awn 3.2–7.8 mm long. Palea elliptic to ovate, developing a germination flap, 2.7–3.5 mm long, glabrous between keels. Anthers 0.25–2.8 mm long. Caryopsis 1.2–1.8 mm long.
