Characteristics

Leaf-lamina 7–12 × 3·5–6·5 cm., elliptic or obovate, apex obtuse to acute or acuminate and mucronate, rounded to slightly cordate at the base; upper surface scaberulous, with straight or nearly straight stiff simple and isolated pachydermatous hairs mixed with minute stellate stiff hairs; lower surface discolorous, whitish-or fulvous-cottony-tomentose or floccose with long curled leptodermatous (thin-walled) hairs on the nerves and reticulation and with the interreticular areoles densely covered with minute stellate hairs; midrib and lateral nerves slightly depressed above and very prominent and strong beneath; lateral nerves in 10–16 pairs, nearly straight, incurving at the apex, reaching the margin of the leaf.

Fruit 8–10 mm. in diam., subglobose, densely sericeous-tomentose, conical at the apex; wings 3–4 × 1·0–1·5 cm., reddish-purple, generally broadly obovate to spathulate.
Inflorescences of subsessile condensed clusters forming multiflorous terminal panicles 3–6 cm. long, greyish-or brownish-velutinous-tomentose; pedicels 2–3 mm. long.
Tree 4–10 m. high; branchlets yellowish-brown or blackish-velutinous.
Sepals 3 mm. long, densely sericeous-tomentose.
Petals 9 mm. long, densely sericeous-tomentose.
Stamens with anthers not produced at the apex.
