Characteristics

Plants to c. 0.5 m tall. Leaves: sheaths becoming loose; ligule 0.4–0.7 mm long, truncate; auricles thickened, ciliate; blade expanded to inrolled, 2–5 mm wide, glabrous to sparsely pubescent on abaxial surface. Inflorescence exserted, c. 15 cm long, contracted. Glumes subequal to equal, acute to acuminate; lower glume 10–17 mm long; upper glume 10–16 mm long. Callus 1.2–3.3 mm long, weakly bent, densely white-sericeous. Lemma 6.5–9 mm long, granular, tuberculate towards apex, with white hairs only on midrib; corona 1.5–2.5 mm long, with distal cilia 1–1.5 mm long; awn 50–60 mm long, twice-geniculate, scaberulous, with column 20–30 mm long. Palea 35–50% length of lemma.
