Spikelets 4–7-flowered; glumes very unequal, shorter than the lowermost lemma; floret callus short, oblong; lemmas dorsally rounded, 3-nerved, pilose on the back and margins, shortly and setaceously 2-lobed at the apex, with a long slender flexuous awn in the sinus; palea about 4/5 the length of the lemma, the keels glabrous, wingless.
