Characteristics

Stems climbing to many metres; woody base bearing corky outgrowths. Leaves with petioles 25–60 mm long; leaflet lamina 3–11 cm long, 1.5–5 cm wide; petiolules 2–12 mm long. Male racemes 20–50 mm long on peduncles 10–25 mm long; pedicels 4–12 mm long; calyx-lobes 1.5–2 mm long; corolla-lobes 4–6 mm long, white-tomentose outside, yellow inside. Female flowers on pedicels 15–25 mm long. Fruit 8–12 cm long, 4–5 cm diam., variegated green to yellow; flesh yellow, fragrant; fruiting pedicel to 4 cm long. Seeds 11–13 mm long, 7–9 mm wide, brown.
