Perennial herb, hydrophyte, from short erect rhizome. Flower glomerules usually with adventitious roots. Flowers numerous in each glomerule, attached some distance away from leaf sinus. Capsule oblong-ovoid, obtuse. Flowers yellow.
Corolla pale yellow, tube 5–6 mm. long, lobes 1.2–1.5 mm. or more long, fimbriate laciniate along margins and midvein inside and sometimes densely hairy at the throat.
Capsule ± 5 mm. in diam., ovoid, ± as long as the calyx, usually less than 10 seeded.
Petiole 2–6 cm.; lamina 3–10(20) cm. in diam., subcircular.
Seeds 1.6–2.2 mm. long, lenticular ± tuberculate.
Flowers 5–20 heterostylous, pedicels 2.5–6(8) cm.
Perennial; stock thick, floating stolons few.
Calyx 4–6.5 mm. long, spreading at anthesis.
