Shrub or dwarf shrub, procumbent or erect, up to 2 m tall, covered with dense white-woolly hairs, at least on new growth, branches spinescent. Leaves ovate to elliptic, toothed or entire. Flowerheads radiate, solitary or few in terminal corymbs; inner involucral bracts oblong-ovate, margins broadly scarious; ray florets female, yellow; disc florets female-sterile, yellow. Fruit fleshy, obovoid or ellipsoid; pappus absent.
