Characteristics

Leaves alternate or sub-3-verticillate; petiole 1–3 mm. long, stout, densely hairy; lamina dull green above, ochraceous beneath, 6–11 × 1–1·6 cm., linear, acute and mucronate at the apex, mucro up to 2 mm. long, with a ± thickened undulate margin, roundish to slightly cuneate at the base; upper surface with an indumentum of ± dense patent hairs, the under surface with a double indumentum of minute scales (always?) and long stiff hairs on the nerves and veins; midrib slightly impressed above, much raised below; lateral nerves 2·5–3·5 mm. apart, slightly raised above, very prominent below as also the reticulation.

Suffrutex; branches cylindric in the lower part, ± striate in the upper portion, with a double indumentum consisting of rather short whitish appressed hairs and stiff reddish patent ± curled long ones.
Male panicles long (up to 25 cm.) and narrow, with the axis with an indumentum like that of the stems; pedicels short; bracts up to 5 mm. long, linear.
Calyx-segments c. 2·5 × 1·5 mm., hairy outside.
