Characteristics

Leaves alternate or opposite to 3-verticillate; petiole 6–7 mm. long, broadly canaliculate above, convex on the back, densely patent-hairy; lamina dark green above, whitish-sericeous to brownish beneath, 2·3–6 × 1·2–2·5 cm., obovate, roundish, obtuse or subacute at the apex, margin very conspicuously ciliate and revolute, cuneate at the base; indumentum of both surfaces double, consisting of a lower layer of short appressed hairs and another of long rather sparse patent ones; midrib impressed above, raised and patent-hairy beneath; lateral nerves somewhat arcuate, usually forked not far from the margin, impressed above, raised and spreading-hairy below, 1·5–3 (4·5) mm. apart; reticulation not visible.
