Characteristics

Leaves alternate or opposite to verticillate, upright; petiole yellowish, pubescent, 1–8 mm. long, furrowed; lamina discolorous, dull or somewhat shining, olive-green or reddish, (4·2) 7–14 × 2–6 cm., oblong-elliptic or oblong-obovate, rounded or refuse and mucronate at the apex, with ± thickened and ± undulate margin, narrowed at the base, subcoriaceous to coriaceous, glabrous or minutely puberulous above, ± whitish-sericeous beneath (densely covered on the lamina by white minute appressed hairs either single or mixed, mainly on the lateral nerves, with sparser longer yellowish ones); midrib not or only slightly prominent above, much raised and minutely pubescent or with rather long hairs beneath; lateral nerves 3–5(7) mm. apart, prominulous and lighter than the lamina above, very prominent below, somewhat oblique to the midrib and arcuate; reticulation not visible.
