Species

Angiosperms > Gentianales > Apocynaceae > Pachycarpus

Characteristics

Stem 280-630 mm tall, slender, simple or occasionally more than one stem arising from the same rootstock, pubescent. Leaves erectly spreading; petiole 2-5 mm long; blade 80-130 x 2-4 mm, narrowly linear, margins revolute, scabrous or pubescent above, glabrous below, midrib pubescent. Inflorescence a solitary terminal umbel or rarely two with the second at the uppermost node, 3-5-flowered, pedunculate; peduncles 15-38 mm long, hairy as stem. Bracts 8-14 mm long, narrowly linear, acuminate, glabrous above, pubescent below. Pedicels 15-30 mm long, pubescent. Sepals 7-13 mm long, lanceolate, acute or acute-acuminate, glabrous above, pubescent below. Corolla 13-23 mm long, globose-campanulate, lobed for ± 3/4 the length of the corolla, apparently yellow-green, brownish outside at the base, glabrous above, densely pubescent below; lobes 9-17 mm long, elliptic or oblong-elliptic to broadly ovate or broadly elliptic, obtuse. Corona lobes 8-15 mm long, linear or lanceolate, rarely spathulate, spreading horizontally from the base and then sharply upcurved and slightly incurved, tip acute, a pair of contiguous keels extending from the base to beyond the middle of the corona lobe, 6-12 mm long, 1.8-2.0 mm tall at the base where they rise to the level of the top of the anther wings or slightly beyond. Anther wings 2.0-3.7 mm long, outer edge very slightly concave; appendages 6.0-7.0 mm long, erect, rising above the style apex, ovate-lanceolate or narrowly oblong when flattened out, obtuse. Style apex excavated and 5-crenate, usually extended 2.5 mm above the anther wings.
