Characteristics

Stem 300 mm or more high, `stout, bifariously subhispid'. Leaves `spreading, shortly petiolate'; blade 38-50 x 19-38 mm, elliptic, margins scabrous, surfaces pubescent. Inflorescence `umbellate, 2-4-flowered, shortly pedunculate at the nodes', peduncles 3-4 mm, `roughly hairy'; pedicels 6-8 mm, `roughly hairy', or pubescent with long fine hairs. Sepals 10-12 x 4.0-4.7 mm, lanceolate, acute-acuminate, glabrous above, pubescent as pedicels below. Corolla 16-18 mm, broadly cup-shaped, lobed almost to the base, `apparently whitish spotted with purple', glabrous above, pubescent below; lobes 10-12 x 9.0 mm, broadly ovate, obtuse, tips notched. Corona lobes 14-16 mm long, linear, acute, horizontally spreading at the base with the apical half horizontally incurved over the basal half, keels 2, extending from the base to beyond the middle of the lobe, contiguous from the base to ± 2/3 their length and then diverging towards the apex and becoming excurrent at the margins, 9-19 mm long, 1.6 mm high at the base, both keels and corona lobes apparently purple-brown. Anther appendages 2.0 mm long, ovate, apex acute, inflexed over the style apex; wings 2.6 mm, vertical with basal tips curved sharply outwards.
