Leaf-blades lanceolate, 3–8 cm. long, 5–10 mm. wide, abruptly tapering at the base, thin, cross-veins absent, scabrid above, pilose or subglabrous beneath, finely acute.. Panicle narrowly oblong or ovate, 3–10 cm. long, moderately branched, the branching asymmetrical.. Spikelets narrowly ovate, 1.7–2.3 mm. long, sparsely to densely pilose; lower glume 1/2 the length of the spikelet, ovate, 0–1(–3)-nerved, acute or blunt, separated from the rest of the spikelet by a short internode; upper glume 3(–5)-nerved; lower lemma 3(–5)-nerved, sterile, its palea absent; upper lemma pale, shining.
