Panicum pusillum Hook.F.

Annual; culms (1.5–)5–40 cm. high, delicate, erect or decumbent and often rooting at the lower nodes, rarely erect.. Leaf-blades lanceolate, 0.6–4(–4.5) cm. long, 1.5–6 mm. wide, straight or abruptly narrowed at the base, flat, cross-veins absent, membranous, pilose, acute or acuminate.. Panicle ovate, 1–2(–5) cm. long, pilose, usually very sparsely branched, the branches and pedicels spreading to deflexed.. Spikelets readily disarticulating, narrowly ovate, 1.5–2 mm. long, pilose with tubercle-based hairs or glabrous, acute; lower glume narrowly ovate; 1/2–3/4 the length of the spikelet, 3-nerved, acuminate; upper glume ovate, 5–7-nerved, acute; lower lemma 5-nerved, sterile, its palea poorly developed; upper lemma shining, usually with a conspicuous crescentic callus.

Wet flushes on rock and ironstone outcrops.
