Short-stemmed perennial, with 5-15 prostrate, annual branches 0.10-0.25 m long. Leaves: basal ones linear, flat, up to 20 mm long, withering at flowering time; cauline leaves whorled, shorter and narrower, often revolute. Stipules on stems bulged below leaves; white opaque, not sheathing, basally entire, divided into lobes or coarse hairs in upper part. Inflorescences terminal and lateral, spreading; peduncles up to 30 mm long, forking 1-3x, ultimate branches pseudoracemose. Nectariferous disc white, of 3 broad, obtuse lobes. Stigmas thick, white. Flowering time Aug.-Nov. Fruit rounded, slightly longer than perianth. Seeds dark brown, very finely granular, flattened, biconvex, distinctly bordered.
Subshrub with sprawling, annual branches, 5-15 cm. Leaves in a basal tuft and whorled above, linear. Flowers in lax, terminal and axillary cymes, white, ± 3 mm long.
