Characteristics

Terrestrial orchids growing singly, in loose groups or dense clonal tufts. Leaf single, narrow, hairy (flat eglandular hairs). Infloresence arising in leaf base, erect; peduncle much longer than rachis, thin, wiry, hairy. Flower single, blue. Tepals free, similar in shape and size, narrow, with sessile glands on outer surfaces. Dorsal sepal erect or recurved away from column. Lateral sepals and petals projected forwards or spreading like fingers of hand. Labellum attached by its base to column base, remaining flexible. Labellum lamina 3-lobed; lateral lobes well-developed, erect, incurved, entire; midlobe tapered, recurved, margins with long linear teeth. Calli columnar, in 4–8 rows, crowded, dimorphic; basal calli not clubbed with numerous projecting thin papillae; distal calli clubbed, non-papillate. Column erect, slender, incurved near apex, hairy. Anther with 4 mealy yellow pollinia; viscidium absent.
