Characteristics

Annual. Culms slender, 1–15 (–30) cm high. Leaves scattered along culms; ligule to 7 mm long; blade 0.5–6 cm long, to 4 mm wide, glabrous. Panicles 0.5–5 cm long. Spikelets 3–4 mm long. Glumes 3–4 mm long, acuminate to acute, firmly membranous, 2 or 3-nerved; midnerve hirsute above middle, with hairs short, stiff, spreading. Lemma 1.5–2 mm long, entire, muticous, dorsally rounded, 5–7-nerved, puberulous. Palea equalling lemma, dorsally rounded. Anthers 0.3–1 mm long.
