Lvs commonly 3–6, ovate or elliptic, 2–5 cm, very obtuse, narrowed to the base, the upper surface viscid; scapes 1–3, 5–15 cm, glabrous or minutely glandular; cor violet, 1.5–2 cm (spur included); 2n=64. Wet rocks and shores, and farther n. also in bogs and wet meadows; Lab. to Alas., s. to n. N. Engl., N.Y., Mich., Minn., and Oreg. June, July. Small insects, caught on the slimy lf-surface, are digested.
