Leaves borne in a rosette, spirally arranged; blade ovate or rounded-ovate, 4-14 cm. long, 2.5-11 cm. wide, rounded or subacute at the apex, rounded to slightly subcordate at the base, almost entire to distinctly undulate-dentate or-crenulate or less often very shallowly crenate-lobed, glabrous or almost so, 6-7-nerved; petiole abruptly distinct from the blade, 2-16 cm. long, dilated at the base, rather sparsely to quite densely covered, particularly at the base, with long, very pale brown, cottony hairs..
